Chapter 6: Enoch's Journey to the East

And from thence I went towards the east into the midst of the mountain range of the earth, and I saw a wilderness, and it was solitary; but it was filled with trees.
Parallels with Canonical Texts
Connection: Both describe the corruption that preceded the flood, with heavenly beings interacting with mortals.
I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north — an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light.

And thence I went forth over the summits on the path towards the east, and I beheld the eastern mountains of the earth, on which the sun rises, and all the stars of heaven rise in the east.
And I saw the gates of the sun, and they were opened in the eastern part of the great gate of the east.
And I heard the voice of the archangels who were singing hymns, and the whole creation was trembling, and the whole earth was shaking at their voice.
And I went onward and saw the angel Uriel, who was over the world of the luminaries.
And he said unto me: 'Enoch, thou hast seen the luminaries of the sun and the moon, and the courses of the stars. Come, and I will show thee the mysteries of the thunder and lightning.'
