Bhagavad Gita 2:19-20 - The Eternal Soul
HinduismBhagavad Gita 2:19-20
Krishna's teaching on the indestructible nature of the soul follows a chiastic movement from death to the eternal Self.
AThose who believe the soul to be slayable and those who think it can slay are both deceived.
BThe soul cannot be cut by weapons, burned by fire, wetted by water, or withered by the wind.
CThe soul is eternal, immutable, and beyond all destruction.
B'Therefore, knowing this, you should not grieve for any creature.
A'Perform your duty without attachment, and you will attain the highest peace.
