The Divine Light
John 1:1-5
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Through him all things were made; without him nothing has been made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
Quran 24:35
“Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearlescent star lit from a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would nearly glow even if untouched by fire.”
Upanishads (Mundaka 2:2:9)
“The Self is light; we shine within it. It is the light shining throughout infinite space, the light that illuminates all worlds, all beings, all persons, and their hearts.”
Tao Te Ching ch.14
“Look at it, you cannot see it; it is beyond form. Listen to it, you cannot hear it; it is beyond sound. Feel for it, you cannot grasp it; it is beyond touch. These three cannot be perceived, yet they are unified into One.”
Zohar I:15a
“In the beginning the Will of the King moved to create worlds, and He created a certain holy form that is called 'the Supernal Light.' It flows from the supernal source and fills the highest sphere with radiance.”
Guru Granth Sahib p.13
“The Divine Light is the same in all hearts; there is but one light in all. One light manifests throughout creation; but we, blinded by ignorance, see only ourselves.”
