The Word / Logos / Divine Speech
The creative and revelatory power of divine speech through which the cosmos is made and God communicates with creation. The Word represents both creative force and channel of divine truth.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Through him all things were made.”
“By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.”
“Then He directed Himself to the sky while it was smoke and said to it and to the earth, Come into being willingly or by compulsion. They said, We have come willingly.”
“From the Word (Brahman) all beings are born; by the Word they are sustained; and into the Word they ultimately dissolve.”
“The divine speech flows through the sefirot (emanations), creating reality through the creative utterances of God.”
“The Logos is the divine mind that became flesh to awaken the spiritual principle dormant in matter.”
“The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao; the name that can be named is not the eternal name.”
Ultimate reality transcends language yet is expressed through it
“The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao. The name that can be named is not the eternal name. The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth.”
