Chapter 14: The House of the Holy One

And I went in till I drew nigh to a wall which is built of crystals and surrounded by tongues of fire: and it began to affright me.
And I went into the tongues of fire and drew nigh to a large house which was built of crystals: and the walls of the house were like a tessellated floor made of crystals, and its groundwork was of crystal.

Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal. In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures.

And the floor of the house was like sand, and its walls and ceiling were of crystal.
And there were fountains of living water round about the house.
And the light of the house was brighter than the sun, and its radiance filled all the heavens.
And I saw the throne of the Holy One, and it was upon a sea of fire, and it was surrounded by the spirits of the righteous.
And the throne was exalted above all the heavens, and the Holy One sat upon it, and His splendor was beyond all understanding.
And the voice of the Holy One shook the heavens and the earth, and all the stars sang His praise.
And I fell down before the throne and worshipped the Holy One, and praised His name.
And the Holy One said unto me: 'Enoch, behold, I have exalted thee above all the creatures of the earth. Go now and teach the sons of men, and let thy testimony be a light unto them.'
And I looked and saw therein a lofty throne: its appearance was as crystal, and the wheels thereof as the shining sun, and there was the vision of cherubim.
Parallels with Canonical Texts
Connection: Both depict Enoch receiving a vision of God enthroned in glory.
Connection: Both testify of Enoch's special relationship with God; Hebrews says he 'was translated that he should not see death.'
And from underneath the throne came streams of flaming fire so that I could not look thereon.
And the Great Glory sat thereon, and His raiment shone more brightly than the sun and was whiter than any snow.
None of the angels could enter and could behold His face by reason of the magnificence and glory, and no flesh could behold Him.
