Chapter 22: The Abodes of the Righteous Dead
Book of the Watchers
And thence I went to another place, and he showed me a mountain of fire which burned day and night. And I went beyond it and saw seven magnificent mountains, all differing one from another, and the stones thereof were magnificent and beautiful, all of precious stone, and the building of the mountain was of emerald.
And one mountain had waters which gushed forth, and another had dry trees. And I saw the spirits of the souls of the dead, and I heard their voices weeping and lamenting.
And there were four places of the departed: a bright place where dwell the righteous, a place of great light where are the spirits of those who were judged in righteousness.
And I saw the spirits of those who made their complaint, saying: 'Our souls have been grieved within us because of the things that we have seen and heard.'
And the angel Raphael answered and said unto me: 'These spirits belong to those men who complained against the Lord; therefore here are they kept separated until the day of judgment.'
'And some among them shall be judged to eternal punishment, whilst others shall be released in the great day of judgment.'
