Chapter 23: The Vision of the Underworld

And from thence I went down into the depths beneath the earth, and I saw the prison-houses of the spirits, and torches of fire were burning throughout.

And I saw the spirits of the wicked bound in chains of fire, and they were tormented exceedingly.

And the angel said unto me: 'This is the place appointed for the wicked, where they are punished with everlasting torment for their transgressions.'

'Here dwelleth the spirit of Azazel, bound hand and foot, cast into darkness, awaiting the day of his final judgment.'

And I saw wheels of fire and spirits bound therein, weeping and wailing, for they shall have no rest until the day of resurrection.
