Chapter 72: The Course of the Sun

And the angel Uriel showed unto me all the workings of the sun. And I beheld how the sun moveth according to the law which was appointed unto it, and how it riseth in the east and setteth in the west.

'The sun hath four gates through which it passeth: in the east it riseth through the first gate, in the south through the second, in the west through the third, and in the north through the fourth.'

'And in each season the sun entereth through a different gate, so that the length of the day and night may be regulated according to the law of the Lord.'

'And the course of the sun is finished in three hundred and sixty-four days, and a quarter of a day, that the year may be completed.'

And the sun giveth light to all the earth, and all creatures are warmed by its heat, and the vegetation groweth by its power.
